This post isn’t ranked in any particular order, but trust us, every beach on this list is worth visiting. We’re also sharing our personal favorites and must-see beaches for those who might be short on time. So, if you’re planning a trip to Koh Lanta and wondering which beaches to hit, keep reading!

With about 20 beaches to explore, each day was an adventure in itself. The moment we stepped onto the first beach, we knew we were in for a treat. Koh Lanta’s coastline is breathtaking, and every beach has its unique charm. From the crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling to the soft, powdery sand that invites you to relax for hours, each stop revealed something special.

Some beaches were buzzing with energy, filled with restaurants, beach bars, and water sports. Others were tucked away, offering a more secluded, peaceful vibe, perfect for those who just want to get away from it all. Koh Lanta truly has a beach for everyone’s taste, and we quickly realized that this island is more than just a pretty destination – it’s a beach-hopping dream.

Secret Beach

Secret Beach on Koh Lanta is a hidden gem, known for its breathtaking natural beauty and serene atmosphere. Reaching this secluded beach requires a bit of effort; you’ll need a short hike or navigate along the coastline by walking over the rocks. However, don’t let this discourage you—the journey is well worth it! Though it’s not as well-marked as some other beaches, the tranquility and stunning views make every step worthwhile.

Once you arrive, you’ll find yourself on soft, golden sands with crystal-clear waters inviting you for a swim. Secret Beach is relatively small and doesn’t offer any restaurants or shacks, so it’s wise to bring your own water and snacks. This lack of facilities allows for a more intimate experience with nature, free from the larger crowds found elsewhere. It’s the perfect place to relax, whether you want to sunbathe, swim, or enjoy a quiet picnic surrounded by lush greenery.

Keep in mind that Secret Beach doesn’t have restrooms or other amenities. If you’re planning a visit, aim to arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon to fully appreciate the peaceful surroundings. Here, you can escape the hustle and bustle, dive into a good book, or simply soak in the stunning beauty of Koh Lanta’s coastline.

Beautiful Beach

When you visit Secret Beach, make sure to stop by Beautiful Beach, which is just next door. You can even walk over the rocks during low tide to get there. Beautiful Beach quickly became one of our favorite spots on the island, and we found ourselves returning daily. The name says it all—it’s truly a beautiful beach!

It’s easily accessible and has its own parking area. On the beach, you’ll find a shack offering smoothies, juices, coconuts, and snacks. We absolutely loved the mango smoothie there! You can also rent a kayak for a breathtaking sunset experience; it’s one of the best spots on the island to watch the sun dip below the horizon. Just a heads-up: many people gather to catch the sunset, so it can get a bit crowded at times.

Beautiful Beach also features massage spots, and let me tell you, getting a massage while watching the sunset is an incredible experience. Some days, we even had four-legged visitors—not dogs, but cows! They love to come by during sunset, and it seems tourists adore them. Some will pass through, while others will settle down on the sand to enjoy the view.

The sunsets at Beautiful Beach are absolutely breathtaking. Each evening, they beautifully illustrate the day’s end as you wait for the sun to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple. This stunning spectacle transforms the beach into a magical setting, perfect for capturing unforgettable photos or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere. As the day comes to a close, the colors reflect on the calm waters, creating a picturesque backdrop for a truly memorable experience.

The beach is perfect for swimming, with warm, crystal-clear waters that beckon you in. With no corals in the water, it’s an ideal spot for relaxation. We spent countless hours here, soaking up the sun and enjoying the most incredible sunsets.

Lanta Klong Nin Beach

Lanta Klong Nin Beach is a beautiful stretch of fine white sand, perfect for afternoon walks and watching the sunset. The soft, inviting sand makes it an ideal spot to relax, though at low tide, you might come across some rocks, making swimming a bit tricky. Located on the west side of the island, Klong Nin is famous for its stunning sunsets that paint the sky with vibrant colors each evening.

The beach is lined with plenty of restaurants and bars, making it the perfect place for a sunset dinner or a drink with friends while taking in the view. Located in the small village of Klong Nin, the area is also home to hipster cafes and great restaurants. We often walked along the beach just before sunset, enjoying the relaxed vibe and grabbing dinner afterward.

Klong Nin offers a variety of massage spots and charming gift shops. One of our favorite finds was a letter shop that personalizes journals—perfect for anyone who loves jotting down their thoughts. In the evenings, you’ll find beanbags set up for people to lounge on and watch the sunset. This beach is also home to the beautiful SriLanta Resort and Spa, adding to the charm of the area.

Relax Bay Beach

Relax Bay Beach was the first beach we visited when we arrived in Koh Lanta. Located between our two favorite beaches, Beautiful Beach and Long Beach (Phra Ae Beach), this white sand paradise with warm, turquoise waters is a peaceful haven. It offers plenty of massage spots and a variety of water activities. You’ll also find cozy beachside bungalows, and it’s home to the charming beachfront Lanta Casa Blanca.

Conveniently, there’s also a 24-hour 7-Eleven just a 5-7 minute walk away. Since Relax Bay is less crowded than other beaches, it’s perfect for sunbathing, reading a book, or simply soaking in the natural beauty of Koh Lanta.

Coconut Palm Beach

Coconut Palm Beach is one of the cutest beaches on the island. This hidden gem is lined with towering coconut palms, giving the beach its name and enhancing its natural, tropical charm. The soft, golden sand and calm, clear waters make it perfect for swimming or simply relaxing.

Unlike the more developed beaches on Koh Lanta, Coconut Palm Beach remains relatively untouched by mass tourism. You won’t find large resorts or noisy beach bars here, making it a peaceful escape. Even though it’s home to the lovely Blue Andaman Lanta Resort, the beach is very quiet, and you’ll rarely encounter crowds.

There’s just one beachfront restaurant, Lanta Meeting Point, where you can enjoy a simple meal while taking in the serene views. This beach is ideal for long, peaceful walks or just lounging in the shade of the palm trees—a perfect spot for a relaxing day in paradise.

Bamboo Beach

Bamboo Beach is a true paradise and one of our favorite beaches on Koh Lanta. Secluded and surrounded by breathtaking mountains, it’s perfect for those seeking a peaceful, hustle-and-bustle-free escape. If you’re planning to stay, LaLaanta Hideaway Resort is the only accommodation option, but it’s an absolute gem. The resort features two pools, a restaurant, and a private beach—offering a slice of paradise. It’s also conveniently located about 45 minutes from Saladan Pier.

We drove to Bamboo Beach a few times, and there are a few parking options available. You can park along the road, or take the dirt path and park closer to the beach. The drive itself is beautiful, passing through a jungle where you might spot monkeys in the trees or even on the road, along with the sounds of many birds in the background.

Once you reach the end of the road, you’ll be greeted by friendly chickens and beautiful dogs wandering around. The beach has a single bar, perfect for enjoying a mango smoothie on a hot day. If you’re visiting with kids, they’ll love the swings dotted along the beach, adding a fun touch to this peaceful paradise.

The beach is one of the few that offers public toilets and showers, set up in a charming, island-style way. You can also indulge in beach massages in cozy little huts, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. Bamboo Beach is exceptionally clean, with stunning turquoise waters, ideal for a peaceful swim or simply lounging on the soft sand and soaking in the serene surroundings.

We highly recommend staying here for at least two days to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of this part of the island, Bamboo Beach, and the laid-back vibe of the resort. The peaceful atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to unwind, whether you’re lounging by the pools, taking a sunset swim, or enjoying a beachside massage. Keep in mind, Bamboo Beach is quite remote, far from nightlife and bustling restaurants, making it an ideal getaway for those seeking a quiet, rejuvenating escape surrounded by nature’s stunning scenery.

Nui Bay Beach

One of the beaches we absolutely adore is Nui Bay Beach. This small, hidden gem offers a tranquil and untouched vibe, making it the perfect escape from the more crowded spots. With no resorts in sight, the beach features soft sand and crystal-clear waters, inviting you to relax and unwind. A charming shack built by locals serves refreshing drinks, enhancing the laid-back atmosphere, while rustic beach umbrellas made from palm leaves provide welcome shade from the sun.

To reach Nui Bay, you’ll park along the main road and embark on a short hike along man-made steps, which adds to the sense of adventure. The path winds through lush greenery, building your anticipation for the beauty that awaits. Once you arrive, you can rent a kayak from the local shack for a bit of exploration on the bay, allowing you to discover the stunning coastline at your own pace. Just be aware that swimming is best limited to specific areas, as the rocky seabed makes some spots less ideal for a dip.

The serene beauty of Nui Bay Beach truly inspires a sense of reflection and gratitude. As you soak in the stunning surroundings—the gentle waves, swaying palm trees, and soft golden sand—it becomes clear just how precious each moment is. Don’t forget to enjoy every experience, embrace the simple joys, and appreciate the little things, because life is fleeting, and each day is a gift waiting to be cherished. Remember, It’s Only Temporary, so make the most of every beautiful moment.

Bakantiang Beach

Kantiang Bay, also known as Bakantiang Beach, is a stunning stretch of coastline that extends nearly 2 kilometers—perfect for a peaceful morning walk. The surrounding mountain range provides breathtaking views, creating a picturesque backdrop for your stroll. Despite the mountains nearby, there’s little to no shade on the beach, so keep that in mind for sunny days. The beach is rarely crowded, offering a sense of seclusion, and its warm, clear waters and long, sandy shoreline—free of stones—make it an ideal spot for swimming or relaxing. When we visited, we practically had the beach to ourselves, enhancing the serene experience.

Just before reaching Bakantiang Beach, there’s the small, charming Kantiang Village that’s definitely worth a visit. Here, you’ll find a variety of gift shops, tour services, restaurants, and massage spots—perfect for a relaxing break or some souvenir shopping. If you need an ATM, you can conveniently withdraw money in the village, and there’s even a 7-Eleven! It’s the perfect stop to grab your favorite snacks or necessities before heading to the beach. Bakantiang Beach is located about 30 minutes from Lanta Old Town and just 10 minutes away from the Khlong Chak Waterfall, making it a perfect base for exploring both the beach and nearby natural attractions. If you find yourself at the beach around lunchtime, Same Same But Different Restaurant is a great choice for a delicious meal or a refreshing mango smoothie or fresh coconut.

During our visit, we were also greeted by friendly dogs who kept us company, adding to the laid-back atmosphere. There’s also a bar called Why Not, known for its hippie vibe, live music, and exciting fire shows—a great spot to relax and take in the unique ambiance of the area.

While we were there, we learned something fascinating—during the monsoon season, shoes wash up on the shore, and the restaurant collected them over just three months to create a unique “wall of shoes” display. It’s an interesting reflection of how the sea brings things to the shore.

If you’re planning to stay at Bakantiang Beach, Pimalai Resort and Spa is a beautiful resort option that offers luxury and serenity, perfectly complementing the peaceful surroundings of the beach.

Phra Ae Beach/Long Beach

Phra Ae Beach, also known as Long Beach, is the longest beach on Koh Lanta, stretching about 5 kilometers. With its golden sand, it offers plenty of shade under pine trees—a unique feature, as there are many palm trees too, but the pines give the beach a fun and different vibe. While it’s one of the busiest beaches on the island, you can still find quieter spots, especially towards the right side of the beach.

Long Beach is very close to Saladan Village, the initial stop when you arrive in Koh Lanta. This charming village is bustling with activity, featuring numerous gift shops where you can find souvenirs, clothing, and local handicrafts. The village night market is a highlight, offering a fantastic street food, fresh produce, and local delicacies that showcase the flavors of the region. It’s a great place to mingle with friendly locals, and experience the village atmosphere.

This lively beach is perfect for water sports, with numerous restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisine and beach bars lining the shore. Many tourists choose to stay here due to its convenient location—just a 10-minute drive from both Saladan Pier and Lanta Old Town. From Long Beach, you can easily set off on island-hopping adventures or enjoy a variety of water sports. Numerous tour services operate directly from the beach, and we noticed that most offer similar pricing—unlike other islands where prices can vary significantly. Along the shoreline, you’ll also find plenty of massage spots, which tend to fill up as the day winds down, especially before sunset. It’s the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring or water activities while enjoying the beautiful sunset views.

You can rent a kayak and enjoy the calm waters, or try snorkeling right from the shore. We spotted a few tropical fish without even snorkeling, but many others were out in the water having a great time exploring the sea life. It’s a fun way to experience the beauty beneath the surface!

There’s also a wide range of accommodations available, making it convenient for visitors. It’s home to the stunning Layana Resort & Spa, a beautiful luxury resort. Despite being the busiest beach, Phra Ae Beach remains one of our favorite spots on Koh Lanta.

The sunsets here are absolutely breathtaking, with the colors shifting so dramatically it feels like you’re living in a fairytale. It’s truly one of the most beautiful spots to watch the sunset on Koh Lanta.

Klong Hin Beach

Imagine stepping onto a beach where it feels like the world has paused just for you. That’s exactly what we experienced at Klong Hin Beach, located on the southwest coast of Ko Lanta. If you’re looking to escape the crowds and unwind in peace, this secluded stretch of white sand is the perfect place to relax.

One of the most magical things about Klong Hin is its remoteness. With few hotels and resorts nearby, you can easily find yourself alone on the beach, just like we did. It felt as if we had our very own private beach, with no one else around except for the sound of the gentle waves. There’s something truly special about having all that space to yourself—it makes you appreciate nature’s beauty even more.

The water at Klong Hin is crystal clear, ideal for a refreshing swim. During low tide, you’ll spot some rocks scattered along the shore, but they’re easy to navigate around. In fact, those rocks make for great snorkeling! We spent hours exploring the marine life that calls this place home, swimming alongside colorful fish and soaking in the tranquility of the ocean.

Oh, and let me tell you—the sunsets here are absolutely incredible. As the day melts away, the sky turns into a canvas of fiery oranges and purples, casting the perfect glow over the beach. Watching the sun dip below the horizon in this quiet paradise is an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

Klong Hin Beach is the kind of hidden gem that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and untouched by mass tourism, offering the perfect retreat for those wanting to recharge away from the hustle and bustle. Sunset Rock Viewpoint & Tricky-Trocky Beach

While visiting Sunset Rock Viewpoint in Koh Lanta, we stumbled upon a little gem—Tricky-Trocky Beach. Tucked away at the southernmost tip of Koh Lanta, this tiny off-the-beaten-track beach is one of those places that feels like a secret. It’s not well-known, and judging by how secluded it is, it’s probably one of the least-visited beaches on the island.

To reach Tricky-Trocky Beach, you have to hike down a hill surrounded by palms, adding to the adventure. When we got there, it looked like something out of a pirate story—a hidden spot where a crew might come to rest after a long journey at sea. The beach is small, only big enough for maybe 10 people at a time. But honestly, during our three-week stay in Koh Lanta, we never saw even 10 people on any beach except for Long Beach and Beautiful Beach.

The beach isn’t great for swimming, as it’s covered in rocks and pebbles, but it’s an absolute paradise for snorkeling. The marine life here is vibrant, and if you’re a snorkeling enthusiast, you’ll love exploring the underwater world. We saw all kinds of colorful fish weaving through the rocks—it was like discovering another hidden treasure.

One of the highlights of our visit was seeing the view from Sunset Rock Viewpoint. The palm forests stretching out beneath us were stunning, and from the beach, you can catch the same breathtaking vistas. We were also charmed by the heart-shaped rock someone left on the beach and the heart-shaped pattern in the water—proof that love really is in the air!

If you’re after a unique, quiet spot where you can feel like a pirate for the day or just want a peaceful snorkeling escape, Tricky-Trocky Beach is the place to be. It’s an adventure to reach, but once you’re there, it feels like your own little slice of paradise.

Klong Khong Beach

During our time in Koh Lanta, we found ourselves spending most of our days at Klong Khong Beach—it was our local spot, just a quick 3-minute walk from our resort. This beach has so much to offer, and it quickly became one of our favorite places on the island.

Klong Khong is a perfect mix of relaxation and excitement. The beach is lined with amazing restaurants, making it a great spot for foodies. And if you’re into nightlife, it’s one of the liveliest areas, along with Long Beach. But what really stole our hearts were the sunsets. We must have watched dozens of sunsets here, and each one seemed better than the last. Honestly, Klong Khong might just have the best sunsets on the island.

The water here is crystal clear, perfect for swimming when the tide is high. But when the tide goes out, it feels like you’re walking on the surface of the moon—otherworldly and beautiful in its own way. Whether it’s high or low tide, Klong Khong is stunning. Plus, if you’re into water sports, you’ll find plenty of options here. One of the highlights of our stay was the beach barbecues. You basically cook your own food right on the beach, and it’s such a fun and social experience. We spent many nights by the water, enjoying the BBQ and watching the incredible fire shows that light up the night. It’s one of those places where you can’t help but feel alive. The beach is also home to many palm trees, adding to its beauty. We took long evening walks along the shore, soaking in the peaceful vibes and tropical surroundings. There’s just something magical about this beach—whether you’re relaxing, enjoying a meal, or simply walking under the stars.
