Simpson Bay Resort, Marina & Spa
Simpson Bay Resort, Marina & Spa is an amazing place to stay if you’re looking for comfort, convenience, and stunning ocean views in Sint Maarten. Located right in the heart of Simpson Bay, the resort offers spacious rooms with private balconies where you can relax and enjoy your morning coffee while soaking in the beautiful Caribbean scenery. The location couldn’t be better—it’s close to local restaurants, lively nightlife, and must-see spots like Maho Beach and Princess Juliana International Airport.

The hotel’s pool was beautiful, featuring plenty of beach chairs for lounging. There were also tables for lunch or dinner where you could enjoy a smoothie while taking in the stunning sunsets and views.

We had an ocean-view room with a generously sized balcony, complete with a table and chairs for relaxation. Each morning, we enjoyed a cup of tea while taking in the breathtaking views, listening to the soothing sound of the waves and the chirping of birds, before starting our day’s adventures.

The room was spacious, featuring a large queen bed and, importantly, four pillows. This detail is crucial for us because we each have different preferences: Daniel prefers tall pillows, while I like them flat. The hotel provided both types, so neither of us was disappointed. The mattress was soft, a pleasant contrast to the often hard mattresses we encountered in Thailand. The room was nicely decorated with charming coral paintings and met our cleanliness standards perfectly.

Another reason we chose this hotel was its non-smoking policy and the inclusion of a kitchen with an oven and dining table. We often like to prepare our own breakfast or cook meals, so having a kitchen is always a bonus, even if we don’t end up using it.

Since we work from the road, a desk is one of the most important amenities we look for, and this hotel did not disappoint. While the chair wasn’t the most comfortable, it served its purpose and allowed us to get our work done effectively.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a fantastic time at this hotel. We stayed for a week, and from there, we took an island-hopping adventure to one of our favorite Caribbean destinations, Anguilla Island.

Mary’s Boon Beach Plantation Resort & Spa
Mary’s Boon Beach Plantation Resort & Spa was another hotel we chose primarily for its location. Situated just a 10-minute drive from both the airport and the famous Maho Beach, it was ideal for our short stay. We weren’t too concerned with amenities since we only needed a beach and proximity to the airport to continue our island-hopping adventure.

We had a very special friend at the hotel who made our stay truly memorable. He was so friendly and welcoming—a charming dog who greeted us with a smile every time we entered and loved to be petted. Never before have we met such a cute and affectionate dog during our travels. Whenever we left for our adventures, he would watch us go and eagerly await our return. I still miss his adorable smile and, to be honest, I wanted to hug him all the time.

Let me tell you about the beach—it was absolutely breathtaking. Since our stay was short, we spent most of our time there. The beach was warm, with crystal-clear turquoise water and pristine white sand. The hotel provided comfortable beach chairs and loungers, making it easy to relax and soak in the beautiful surroundings.
We enjoyed our stay, but we were eagerly anticipating our next adventure: landing on the world’s shortest runway, located on Saba Island. We’ve written a post about it, and it’s definitely worth a visit. You can learn more about our experience there in our blog.
