After searching through several resorts and weighing different locations, our decision wasn’t difficult to make—and here’s why we chose Lanta Lapaya Resort.
Lanta Lapaya checked all the boxes for us. It’s only a 15-minute drive from Saladan Pier, the main entry point when you arrive on the island. If you’re coming to Koh Lanta from Krabi, Railay Beach, or Phi Phi Island, be sure to check out our guide on How to Get to Koh Lanta.
Why Lanta Lapaya Resort?
The resort is conveniently located on Moo 3, the main street running through the middle of the island, giving us the perfect base to explore both the northern and southern parts. Plus, it’s just a short walk to stunning beaches, and it’s close to several 7-Elevens, mini-marts, and hipster coffee shops, making it easy to grab essentials or enjoy a trendy coffee without needed motorbike even though we highly recommend you to rent a motorbike to explore the whole island.
The location was fantastic—not only for the beaches but also for the nearby dining options. We loved that we could walk to various restaurants, giving us the chance to try different foods without needing transportation. The bungalows were spacious and came equipped with a kitchen and all the basic cooking utilities—a real bonus for us. Shhh, to be honest, we didn’t end up using the kitchen, even though we intended to. The bed was super comfortable, and the room had excellent A/C and fast internet, which is essential for us to work and stay connected during our travels. The water pressure in the shower was great too. We didn’t try the hotel breakfast since we didn’t feel like waking up early. Initially, we booked for one week, but we loved it so much that we extended for another two weeks, making it a total of three!

The property was beautifully maintained, with vibrant flowers spread throughout the grounds. The colorful blooms attracted plenty of birds and butterflies, adding a special charm to our mornings on the porch. We even spotted a few roosters, whose early-morning calls took some getting used to, but after encountering them throughout Thailand, they became part of the experience.

The big, green grass fields were stunning, and there was even a small soccer field—complete with mini soccer goals perfect for a casual game or for families traveling with kids. It was a nice touch, providing plenty of space for outdoor fun amidst the beautiful surroundings.

We absolutely loved the pool at the resort! Most of the time, it felt like we had it all to ourselves, probably because we visited just before the tourist season kicked in and the island was still pretty quiet. The pool had a hydro feature that made it even more enjoyable—there’s something so relaxing about the gentle water massage while floating around. We spent hours swimming, lounging on inflatable floats, and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The pool area was well-equipped with showers, plenty of pool beds, and spacious poolside lounging spots, making it perfect for relaxation

Our Stay in the One-Bedroom Bungalow at Lanta Lapaya Resort
We stayed in the one-bedroom bungalow at Lanta Lapaya Resort, and it was the ideal choice for a bit of extra space. The bungalow featured a roomy and comfortable living area, along with a convenient kitchenette, making it perfect for longer stays or travelers who appreciate having more room to relax. One of the standout features was the location of our bungalow—it was at the very end of the row, tucked near the pool, offering us a great sense of privacy and tranquility. The quiet, peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the island, and we truly felt like it was our home away from home.

The bedroom was cozy and had everything we needed. Although the bungalow originally had two twin beds, we pushed them together to create one larger bed. It was firm, which is typical in Thailand, but we still slept well. Natural light streamed in through the many windows, making the room feel bright and airy.

We had a great living area with a comfortable couch and a small kitchenette, which, while we didn’t use it much, was perfect for an afternoon hangout. The space was great for relaxing and afternoon tea.

The only thing we found missing was a desk, as we needed a place to work during our stay. However, the staff at Lanta Lapaya Resort went above and beyond. Once we mentioned the absence of a desk, they promptly brought one, along with a chair, setting up a perfect little workspace. Their quick response and attentiveness made our stay even more comfortable and personalized.

The bathroom in the one-bedroom bungalow was spacious and well-appointed, with excellent water pressure—a feature we always look for, especially since many island accommodations in Thailand can sometimes lack this. It made our showers refreshing after a day out in the sun. Another nice touch was the inclusion of bathrobes, adding a bit of extra comfort to the experience. Little details like these really elevated our stay.

The porch at our one-bedroom bungalow was really nice and tropical, surrounded by lush greenery. We always enjoyed listening to the songs of the birds and watching butterflies flutter by. It was incredibly relaxing, and after the rain, the air felt so refreshing and crisp. We would often sit on the porch, sipping on fresh coconuts or tea, while listening to the soothing sounds of nature and even some gentle music in the background.

Our Experience in the Studio Bungalow at Lanta Lapaya Resort
The studio bungalow, though smaller than the one-bedroom option, was just as comfortable and well-equipped for our stay. The slightly larger kitchen was a great feature, though we didn’t use it much. Still, it was nice to know we had the option to prepare a quick meal or snack if needed. The compact layout was thoughtfully arranged, making the most of the space. The bed was comfortable, and the room had a clean, inviting atmosphere with tropical decor that really enhanced the relaxing vibe.
For travelers who don’t need a lot of extra room, the studio bungalow was perfect for a simpler, more straightforward stay. Both options—the one-bedroom bungalow and the studio—offered a great balance of comfort and convenience at Lanta Lapaya Resort, depending on the space you’re looking for during your vacation.

When comparing the studio bungalow to the one-bedroom bungalow at Lanta Lapaya Resort, both options were comfortable, but each had its own perks. The studio featured a queen-sized bed, while the one-bedroom had two beds, which we combined into one. This wasn’t a big deal for us, as combining beds is quite common across many islands in Thailand. Both beds were firm but still very comfy, giving us a good night’s sleep.
Both bungalow offered a bit more convenience with little extras, like an umbrella in the room, so we didn’t need to buy or bring one from home. These thoughtful touches added to the overall comfort especially in rainy season.

The kitchen in the studio is surprisingly spacious. What you don’t see in the picture is the dining table—we actually turned it into a desk! It’s a great size, easily fitting four people, but it worked perfectly as our little workspace.

The property also offers motorbike rentals, which turned out to be incredibly convenient for us. Not only was it easy to rent right on-site, but the price was better than what we found outside the property. For those who want to truly experience all that the island has to offer, renting a motorbike is a fantastic option.
In fact, if you’re eager to explore the island, we highly recommend renting a motorbike. It’s the perfect way to uncover the hidden gems and stunning beaches of Koh Lanta.
